Applying the VitalPatch Adhesive Overlay
The VitalPatch has an optional adhesive overlay. Use the overlay if needed to prevent the patch lifting off the skin. If you are not active, you likely do not need to apply the overlay.
For complete documentation, including IFUs, printed QuickStart Guides, and instructional videos, see the Resources page.
Step 1: Clean the skin around the patch
- If you just applied the patch and the skin is still clean, you can skip to the next step.
- Use an alcohol wipe from your kit (blue pouch) to clean the skin around the patch. Allow the skin to dry.
Step 2: Remove the overlay from the pouch
- Locate the adhesive overlay in the kit. Use scissors to cut off one side of the pouch.
- Remove the overlay from the pouch.
Step 3: Create a tab
- Locate the angled corner of the adhesive overlay.
- At the angled corner, bend up a small (half inch) piece of the white liner to create a tab. This will help you remove the liner later.
DO NOT remove the liner. You are only making a tab in this step.
Step 4: Place over VitalPatch
- Place the adhesive overlay over the patch with the blue side against the skin. The tab you created should be on top.
- Align the cutouts of the adhesive overlay with the raised portions of the patch.
Step 5: Remove blue liners
- Hold one side of the overlay firmly in place.
- With your other hand, grab the blue liner on the other side of the overlay. Slowly pull the blue liner away.
- Repeat to remove the other blue liner, making sure to hold the overlay firmly in place.
Step 6: Press down
- Press down all sides of the adhesive overlay to adhere it to the skin and your patch.
Step 7: Peel off top white liner
- Slowly peel off the top white liner starting with the bent tab.
- Press the overlay against your skin and the patch with your other hand as you continue to remove all of the white liner.
Step 8: Seal edges
- Press down on the overlay to seal all the edges against your skin and against the patch.
- The overlay is now applied to the patch. Note that the adhesive overlay does not need to be replaced until you apply a new patch.
